4th Learning Reflection

4th Learning Reflection

For today, teacher talks about ESL and arranges student to work in group. When I work in group I discuss about ESL for prepare presentation in front of the class. I said “The difference between ESL learning and EFL learning - ESL or English as a second language. ESL may have more immediate English needs. The students may not need to worry about grammar right always, but may need to learn basic survival skills as quickly as possible. For example, outside the classroom, students have a specific, practical need for English, and more opportunity to use it such as Australia, Philippines and Singapore etc. In additions, ESL is taught by native speakers. On the other hand, EFL or English as a foreign language.

EFL may have more immediate English needs. The students may not need to worry about grammar right away, but may need to learn basic survival skills as concerned about learning English as quickly as possible because he or she is probably living in a country where he or she speaks the primary language of the country and is able to take care of the necessities of daily life.

Outside of the classroom students have very few opportunities to use English. According to this, many things should be considered i.e. choosing the method that allows the leaner to use the language both fluently and accurately the techniques that ensure maximum exposure to the language and the suitable curricular.

EFL is where the teacher English to students in a country where English isn't the native language. For example, a Chinese students learning in China would fall under this category.

Of course, there are all sorts of reasons for leaner to study EFL or ESL. The English teacher or tutor will have to take the circumstances and the needs of the students into account when preparing lessons for English language learners.”
